Yes, it is that time of year again when sitting alone in a hotel room in middle America, I find myself so void of human contact the last 10 days that I am grasping for straws of self preservation. Alas, a rope was thrown in my general direction and I was all too quick to grab it. I will be heading out to Aspen in June for the Rooftop Comedy Festival and surely will have one hell of a time while I am there.
Some of you may remember that when I was whoring myself out online for votes in the CMT contest, the prize was a trip to this festival. So, yea, sorry about all that as it turns out I am going anyway. You know I love you, right? Place your hand on your inner thigh inappropriately and whisper something sensual into your own ear. Now you know that I really love you.
The reason I am writing this post is for the simple, self-serving purpose of letting you know about how I was nominated for not one, but two different awards at this festival. Every year they give out some awards to comedians and the past two years I have been nominated, but did not win. Will the streak continue? Stay tuned to find out.
I was nominated with some other funny bastards for “The Golden Shingle” Award. Per the website, it is awarded to a rising star in stand up comedy. So, that is pretty cool to be considered for that award. I am also up for a “Viewer’s Choice” Award for comedy clip of the year. It is of my joke, the title track of my cd, “How to Get High Without Drugs.” I you would like to vote for my clip to win this award, you can do that starting May 19th through May 24th at this link or get there by going to the blog on Rooftopcomedy.com.
The point of all of this is to try to feel connected to reality in some way at this current moment (I am hyper-aware that promoting myself as being nominated for comedy awards is hardly a substantial or legitimate connection to reality). But, at least it something to get me away from my intriguing conversation with the ironing board in my room about the benefits of laser hair removal surgery in the armpits.
I have a pretty packed schedule coming up for the rest of the year, so I hope to see some old friends in familiar places and that you will come on out to a show so I can have some real interaction with people so I do not lose my mental stability. That would be super rad. Check my schedule for all upcoming dates and I update it weekly or whenever I need to do so.
Appleton, Wisconsin, next week (May 19 -22) at Skyline Comedy Club with some friends of mine: Josh Sneed and Joe Shelby. That will be great as it is one of the best clubs in the world. Maybe even play some frisbee golf while I am there?
Oh, you can still buy my cd via iTunes or if you want a physical copy, come see me at a show or get it from the Rooftop Comedy Shop. I guess I could direct you the spot you could buy it at amazon.com as well. Do me a huge favor and rate and review the CD if you do buy it. Thanks in advance.]]>
